Selected Works:
Frequently blurring the lines between engineer and musician, Reed Gaines is constantly is thinking of new ways to reinvent media, live performance, and recording techniques in order to convey the message he intends. And it only makes sense. Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, the young performer was constantly surrounded by music. Often intimidated by the rivalry of the Music City, Reed retreated into his bedroom. What you hear now is a result of those years: a practiced, restrained artist who no longer is vying for his spot in the music scene, but completely poised in his unique skillset and presence with the local airplay, press, and captivating live shows to prove it. In between sets at indie mainstays like Raccoon Motel and The OG Basement, Reed has been featured by tastemakers such as Lightning 100, Ear to the Ground, and Cheers to the Vikings as well as on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Fresh Finds: Pop playlists.
Reed’s music is reserved yet self-assured indie rock that begs to be listened to again and again. While upon first listen, you may be taken by his captivating melodies and immersive soundscapes, further analysis of his lyrical content yields vivid visualizations and haunting mental scenes of loss, love, and the pursuit of self-actualization.
